Srinagar, Sep 25 (KNO): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Friday said that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally dry weather tomorrow, while a brief spell of rain, thunder and gusty winds is expected at a few places on Sunday and Monday.
According to the latest forecast accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) September 27-28 will remain generally cloudy, with the possibility of light rain and thundershowers at a few places. Light snowfall is also likely over higher reaches during the period.
The weather department said September 29-30 is expected to remain generally dry, with brief spells of rain possible at a few places.
Generally dry weather is forecast for October 1-2, while October 3-5 is likely to remain generally cloudy with light rain, thunder and gusty winds at a few places. Weather is expected to remain generally dry again on October 6-7.
The MeT has advised farmers that prevailing weather conditions are suitable for harvesting apples and paddy and carrying out other farm operations.
It has, however, advised safe storage of harvested crops during September 27-28 in view of the possibility of rain and gusty winds.
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius on Friday, 0.9 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 12.4 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 26.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 9.4 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded 22.6 degrees Celsius and 7.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius. Kokernag recorded 25.6 degrees Celsius and 9.2 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded 18.4 degrees Celsius and 5.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Jammu division, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 31.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22.6 degrees Celsius.
Katra recorded a maximum of 29.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19.4 degrees Celsius, while Banihal recorded 26.6 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Batote recorded a maximum temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14.3 degrees Celsius, while Bhadarwah recorded 26 degrees Celsius and 9.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
No rainfall was recorded at Srinagar, Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Kokernag, Gulmarg, Banihal, Batote, Katra or Bhadarwah during the period from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, while Jammu recorded 1 mm of rainfall during the period—(KNO)
